BREAKING: Robert Mueller to Make a Statement About the Special Counsel Investigation

Special Counsel Robert Mueller will make a statement Wednesday morning about the two year long investigation into the 2016 presidential election. He will speak at the Department of Justice at 11 a.m eastern and will not take questions from reporters.

“Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III will make a statement on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election. This will be a statement only, no question and answer period to follow,” the DOJ released in a statement.

The White House was notified in advance about the statement and was not caught off guard by the announcement.

The statement comes after Mueller said he did not want to testify on Capitol Hill about the investigation in order to avoid looking political. It will be his first and only public statement so far about the investigation. Democrats and Republicans have called for him to testify and answer questions about the 400-page long Special Counsel report that was released in April. The report stated that no American, including all members of the Trump campaign, colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.
